Subject ZOA398 // Human counteroffensive // 2172

The Vulkil take Earth before ZOA398 wakes.

Every previous subject died during the Protocol procedure. ZOA398 survived with strength and endurance no ordinary soldier possesses, but the Vulkil control an occupied planet. If he reaches the human resistance, he may be the edge Humanity needs. If he dies, the counteroffensive dies with him.

Mission briefing // Olympia Prime breached

Humanity's first chance begins beneath Olympia Prime.

The Vulkil broke Earth's defenses in a single coordinated assault and reached the classified laboratory beneath Olympia Prime before its work could be buried. Every earlier Protocol subject died during the procedure. ZOA398 lived, and the abilities it left him with may be the small advantage humanity needs against an enemy that already holds the planet.

The field loop

Every mission puts your gear at risk.

Every deployment begins with a choice about what you are willing to lose. Better equipment may keep you alive long enough to reach the objective, but it disappears with you if extraction fails.

01

Deploy

Choose the objective first, then carry only the equipment you are willing to lose in hostile territory.

02

Fight & scavenge

Vulkil patrols stand between you and the supplies left across occupied worlds. Every detour spends time and ammunition.

03

Extract

Finish the objective and escape with your haul. Fall in the field and the gear you carried is lost.

04

Adapt

What reaches the base can improve your equipment and train new skills before the next operation.

Protocol systems // integrated

ZOA398 has to make the Vulkil fight for the planet they took.

ZOA398 can survive battles that would kill an ordinary soldier. Against an occupation force that controls Earth and the space above it, that advantage is vanishingly small. It is still the first advantage humanity has found, and losing him would end the counteroffensive before it begins.

SYS // 01

Third-person combat

Firearms and close-range weapons reward deliberate positioning. A bad approach can spend scarce ammunition before the real fight begins.

SYS // 02

Survival logistics

A long deployment drains more than health. Oxygen and food determine whether ZOA398 reaches the extraction point.

SYS // 03

Gear & crafting

Recovered equipment returns to permanent storage. The right parts can become the ammunition or field supplies the next mission requires.

SYS // 04

Psionic power

The Protocol opens psionic abilities for protection and direct attack. Each one draws from energy you may need later.

SYS // 05

Faction choices

Human factions remember ZOA398's decisions. Their support can open a path forward, while their distrust may close it.

SYS // 06

Interplanetary war

The search for a way to defeat the occupation eventually leaves the ground. You will navigate between worlds and fight for control of the routes through space.

ZOA398 survived what the Protocol did to him.

The procedure left ZOA398 with strength and endurance beyond ordinary human limits. Seven skill paths let you shape how he fights, while his equipment and psionic abilities determine what he can survive in the field.

ZOA398 carries the war beyond Earth.

ZOA398's first objective is to escape the ruined laboratory beneath Olympia Prime. The campaign then returns him to occupied Earth before carrying him to humanity's refuge on Mars. The Aedivir wait farther ahead, and their trust will determine whether Humanity ever learns what they chose to seal.

Xenolog // contact intelligence archive

The people beyond Earth will shape this war.

Each contact file explains how a civilization organizes itself and what its people call their own roles. The Aedivir entry also records why a peaceful society might refuse to share knowledge that could change the war.

Humanity

Adaptive coalition

Humanity enters the war technologically outmatched and politically fractured. Its survivors share hard-won expertise across military and civilian lines because no isolated discipline can keep the species alive.

XENO-01 // Hostile

Vulkil

Expansionist war hierarchy

The Vulkil struck every major human position at once. Resistance was crushed, and surviving populations were enslaved. Their forces follow a rigid hierarchy visible in the armor and authority carried by each unit.

Aedivir

Pacifist custodial civilization

The Aedivir possess science far beyond human or Vulkil engineering. They chose peace while they were already powerful, then sealed knowledge they believe no civilization can use without becoming a danger to others.
