What cookies are
Cookies are small pieces of data a website asks a browser to store and return. Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels, or identifiers. This notice covers technologies used by the official ZOA Protocol website; third-party destinations publish their own notices.
Essential authenticated session
If you choose to sign in through Steam, the shared ZOA web gateway sets an HttpOnly authenticated session cookie. It lets the site recognize the browser session after Steam confirms your identity and protects the session value from ordinary page scripts.
The cookie is necessary for signed-in profile features. It is not used to build an advertising profile. Session lifetime is controlled by the gateway, and signing out ends the active authenticated session. Clearing site cookies removes the browser’s copy and requires you to sign in again.
Analytics and advertising
The public site does not use first-party analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies by default. If that changes, this notice and any consent controls required by law will be updated before those technologies are enabled for affected visitors.
Ordinary server and security logs are not browser cookies. The hosting and gateway infrastructure may process request information needed to deliver and protect the site, as described in the Privacy Notice.
Steam OpenID
Selecting Steam sign-in redirects your browser to Steam. Steam, not ZOA LLC, collects your Steam credentials and applies its own cookies and privacy terms on its pages. Steam returns an authentication result; it does not give this site your password.
Outbound links
Links to Steam, Discord, YouTube, and other external services take you to sites controlled by those providers. They may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies. A normal outbound link does not give ZOA LLC control over those technologies.
Your controls
You can use public pages without the authenticated session cookie by not signing in. You can also sign out or remove stored site data in your browser settings. Blocking the essential cookie will prevent Steam profile features from staying signed in but should not prevent access to ordinary public pages.
Browser controls vary by product and device. Consult your browser’s help documentation before clearing data you may want to keep.
Updates and contact
We may revise this notice if the website begins using different technologies. The date above identifies the current version. Questions about cookies can be sent to ZOA LLC at support@zoaprotocol.com.
